Warbirds


There were many warbirds present this year ranging from aircraft from WWI (Tiger Moth and Fleet Finch) to the jet age (F-104s and Hawker Hunter).

Hawker Hunter

This was the first appearance of a Hawker Hunter at the Abbotsford Airshow. This aircraft is owned and flown by Steve Appleton. He is currently restoring two more Hunters.

Supermarine Spitfire

This very recently restored Spitfire was flown to Abbotsford, from Seattle, on Saturday by Bud Granley. He flew it in the airshow both Saturday and Sunday, including a rare flyby with the Snowbirds both days.

Harvard

The Harvard is known in the United States as the T-6 Texan. The first aircraft below is owned by Bud Granley and is painted in the colours of the old R.C.A.F. F-86 demonstration team, the Golden Hawks. The yellow Harvard is painted in traditional R.C.A.F. training colours and participated in the Heritage Flight. Note the "Big 2" Squadron logo on the nose.

World War I Era

The Museum of Flight in Langley, B.C. had several WWI era aircraft at the Abbotsford Airshow. Pictured here are a Fleet Finch and a Tiger Moth.
