The biggest surprise of the 1999 Abbotsford Airshow was the arrival of the NATO E-3 Sentry
AWACS with the 50th NATO Anniversary paint job. There were rumours of an E-3 coming to Abbotsford, but
there was no mention of it being the NATO E-3 with the commemmorative paint job. This was the
first appearance of any E-3 Sentry at the Abbotsford Airshow. As far as I know, this was its
only North American airshow appearance.

The E-3 Sentry provided a flyby upon arrival and then landed and was added to the static lineup
(Friday, August 6).
