Jimmy Franklin returned to Abbotsford in 2001 for the first time since 1996 with an act that was entirely different than anything seen in Abbotsford before. With the help of Les Shockley, Jimmy Franklin added a jet engine (the same as that used on the T-38 Talon) to his WACO biplane. It made for a noisy and very entertaining performance. The wingwalker for the wingwalking display was Carol Pilon.

A first for Abbotsford was a brightly painted L-39 Albtross known as the "Firecat". The Firecat was flown by Rich Perkins.

Another performer making his first appearance at Abbotsford was Bill Carter flying his Pitts Special.

Returning to Abbotsford was Kent Pietsch flying the Interstate Cadet. He flew twice each day; performing a comedy routine and later a dead stick demo where he turned the aircraft into a glider, eventually landing with no power.

Donn Richardson flew the Christen Eagle.

A welcome addition to Abbotsford 2001 was the return of Conair Aviation to the flying display. Conair demonstrated the fire fighting capabilities of the DC-6 tanker. It has been quite a few years since Conair has performed in the show.

The Abbotsford Airshow has always been known for its varied display. One example of this is flybys by various airliners. This year Air Canada flew an Airbus A340 at the show Friday and Sunday.

Some of the many civilian aircraft on static display:

Boeing MD-11 with CityBird markings. This aircraft has apparently been repossessed by Boeing and has been at Abbotsford Airport for some time.
R.C.M.P. Eurocopter A-Star
Helijet S-61 Sea King.
